About This Course

The "Applied Data Analysis Skills for Measuring the Integration of Diverse Societies" is a pilot training program designed to empower data practitioners with essential data science and human rights-based analysis skills. Co-organized by the OSCE HCNM and UN Human Rights Moldova, this six-month course integrates technical training in Python for data analysis with a strong emphasis on human rights and social cohesion.

Starting on 2 July 2025, the course features a blend of three in-person workshops and three online modules. Participants will engage in hands-on workshops, theoretical lectures, and project-based learning to develop the ability to collect, analyze, and utilize equality data effectively. The curriculum covers foundational topics such as international human rights law, minority rights, and the Human Rights-Based Approach to Data, alongside practical Python programming skills using libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib.

Throughout the course, participants will learn to apply data science techniques to measure social integration, identify inequalities, and visualize data to inform evidence-based policymaking. The final project allows participants to work with real-world datasets, ensuring the skills acquired are directly applicable to Moldova’s integration policies and European Union accession requirements.

This course is ideal for practitioners in Moldovan authorities involved with equality data, requiring no prior programming experience but a commitment to learning statistical concepts and data analysis. By the end of the program, participants will be equipped to contribute to conflict prevention, promote social cohesion, and align Moldova’s policies with international human rights standards and EU expectations.
